Warrington, UK, – Satellite broadcast giant Sky has extended the use of eCommerce services provided by MPP to accept Mobile TV subscriptions directly from users of iPhone and iTouch devices.
To support the new service MPP developed a set of iPhone compatible pages which collects secure credit card information to enable subscribers to register for 8 live sports channels, including Sky Sports 1, 2 and 3, Sky Sports News and Sky News.
A marketing promotion service is also provided which means Sky can incentivise users to register, such as offering the first month free of charge.
The subscription service is powered by MPP’s eCommerce platform iPay which is used by several other Sky properties including Sky Player. iPay includes a suite of Account Manager pages which enables customers to register payment details, self-manage subscriptions and review their order history.
“To have a ready made payments service available out-of-the-box was extremely convenient,” said David Gibbs, General Manager for Mobile at BSkyB. “The lead-times we were working to were challenging and MPP’s total ownership of the payment facets meant we were able to meet our deadlines.”
Paul Johnson, MPP’s CEO, commented: “iPay can be easily leveraged across any platform whether it is web, mobile or iTV and to adapt a solution for iPhone users was very straight-forward.”
