The EuroTest survey spanned 23 European cities with London coming fourth from bottom. London public transport was deemed better than Budapest, Ljubljana in Slovenia and Zagreb. Above London are cities including Paris, Rome, Warsaw and Leipzig. Munich, Germany, came out on top in the survey.
London’s public transport was criticised for how expensive it was to travel from area to area, whilst poor disabled access was cited as a problem for tube passengers. Poorly-labelled signage was also highlighted as a large issue as was the lack of bike space on buses, trams and underground systems. Transport for London was applauded, however, for the Oyster card system. Transport for London insists that it is investing billions into its public transport services to make them more efficient and user-friendly for all.
“The survey certainly makes for grim reading if you regularly use public transport in London, but it is also, sadly, unsurprising,” said Peter Cooper of 24 7 Parking. “The poor state of the capital’s transport services has been widely documented for what seems like an age.
