Stoke on Trent, United Kingdom (2nd August, 2012) – Autonet Insurance, the multi-award winning van insurance broker, have visited The Caudwell Children to present a cheque for £2317.07 for the Ruby Owen Appeal.
Eighteen months ago, Ruby Owen, a five-year-old living in Stoke-on-Trent, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer in her brain. After receiving Proton Therapy treatment in the US, which isn’t available in the UK, she made a full recovery.
Unfortunately, Ruby and her family received the devastating news that the cancer had returned, which resulted in Ruby needing to go back to America for treatment. £120,000 was needed to cover the costs for Ruby to travel and receive the treatment.
To raise money for Ruby’s cause, a cake sale took place at Autonet; with staff members baking the cakes in their own time and selling them to work colleagues. Three dress-down days also went ahead, with one being a wear Red for Ruby day; selling of Ruby’s Army wristbands; and a general collection.
Ian Donaldson, Managing Director of Autonet Insurance, commented: “Autonet have worked hard to raise this money for Ruby Owen. Fundraising events were held over a two week period to raise as much money as possible for this appeal.”
Rebecca O’Connor, Media Manager at Caudwell Children, said: “We are really thankful for the donation from Autonet Insurance. The money will go towards funding both Ruby’s trip and the cost of her treatment, which is vital. Thank you to everyone at Autonet for this generous contribution.”
