Basingstoke, UK, – Sarah Bowden, the partner responsible for procurement at Chic Teak, a leading UK supplier of high quality, sustainably sourced teak garden furniture and garden furniture sets, has recently returned from a hugely successful relationship building trip to Java in Indonesia, where the company sources and creates its superior quality products.
While Houston in Texas may be known as the “oil capital of the world”, when it comes to producing hardwood, and particularly teak, Java in Indonesia is widely recognised as a centre of excellence in terms of quality, and for this reason Chic Teak sources and manufactures all of their teak products in the area.
While quality is vital for the company, equally important is the sustainability and fair practices involved in the production of their teak ranges and, with this in mind, a partner from Chic Teak recently visited Java to cement relationships with manufacturers, meet the workforce and inspect the raw materials and working practices that go into creating their renowned wooden garden furniture.
The trip was a huge success and having witnessed the quality of the materials used, the work practices in place, and the high level of craftsmanship involved in the production of their wood garden furniture items first hand, the company not only plans to continue to source and create its teak products in Indonesia, the visit also resulted in plans to further expand the range.
“The trip was an overwhelming success,” says Sarah Bowden of Chic Teak. “Being able to handle the raw materials and meet the workforce in person not only reinforced our 100% confidence in our suppliers, it also enabled us to further cement and expand our relationship.”
