CII Conference on Defence Manufacturing Technologies – 3 June 2016 @ Hotel Crowne Plaza, Chennai

As you are aware, the Tamil Nadu Technology Development & Promotion Center of CII is organizing the Conference on Defence Manufacturing Technologies, on 3rd June 2016 at Hotel Crowne Plaza, Chennai with the theme “Defence Indigenization – Window of Opportunities”. The conference is a key initiative aligning with our prestigious “Make in India” program which is now the cornerstone of the acquisition plans and defence production policy. The conference serves to help stakeholders understand how to effectively synergise our strengths and capabilities in the manufacturing segment to achieve indigenization in the defence sector.

The conference aims to –  Serve as a knowledge platform to discuss on the opportunities and challenges in the defence sector and to further serve as an interaction platform for key stakeholders in the defence and allied sectors; Identify areas to build capacity to harness the opportunities in the defence sector; Understand from key officials the expectations of defence industry; Gather thoughts on how to effectively utilize the MSME segment for the defence industry and propose models in similar lines; Understand how sectors like automotive, electronics, ICT etc. can enhance their contribution to defence segment; Emphasize the nations’ Strength in areas like design, program management etc; Aid government agencies in facilitating effective policy and provisions for development; Facilitate knowledge flow by working with organizations from different backgrounds on the common agenda.

The conference proposes to cover the following areas in the technical discussions:

Speakers addressing / invited at the conference include:

Keeping in view the theme of the conference,  Heavy Vehicle Factory & Engine Factory, Avadi (Ordinance Factory Board – Ministry of Defence) will showcase products and components required for indigenization of critical assemblies of Tanks T-90. The senior officials of the factory will also explain the procedures to the industries to become suppliers to the defence industries.

The conference delegate fee is Rs. 3000 per participant for CII Member/MSME; Rs. 4000 per participant for Non-member & Rs. 2500 per participant for Educational Institution.
