US to co-host clean energy ministerial meet

The UAE and the United States will tomorrow co-host a preparatory meeting in Abu Dhabi for the world?s first Clean Energy Ministerial, in which over 20 countries, including India, will to collaborate on programs that accelerate transition to clean energy concepts globally.

The Governments participating in the Ministerial, which will be held in Washington on July 19-20, include the 17 countries of the Major Economies Forum (MEF) on Energy and Climate, Belgium (as EU President), Denmark, Norway, Spain and Sweden.

The UAE, home to the Masdar Initiative and the headquarters of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) ? will also participate at the Ministerial due to its ongoing commitment and leadership in advancing low-carbon and climate-friendly technologies.
