AirWatch Secure Content Locker Meets the Australian Signals Directorate

AirWatch(R) by VMware , the leading enterprise mobility management (EMM) provider, announced today that AirWatch Secure Content Locker(R) for iOS devices has achieved PROTECTED level security status defined by the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD). Government agencies seeking an enterprise-grade file sync and sharing solution may now assuredly deploy, collaborate and edit PROTECTED materials through AirWatch Secure Content Locker.

In order to receive this PROTECTED status, AirWatch Secure Content Locker met stringent requirements as defined in Class A (NSFileProtectionComplete) standards for data at rest where files and credentials within this class can only be read or written when the device is unlocked. This protection also covers data in transit as AirWatch by VMware uses the native iOS TLS Libraries to encrypt data being sent and received. ASD completed the cryptographic evaluation of iOS 7 and approved the use up to PROTECTED level when Class A NSFileProtectionComplete has been implemented along with the native iOS TLS Libraries.

AirWatch Secure Content Locker allows for secure content distribution and promotes collaboration of organisational content anytime, virtually anywhere and on all major mobile operating systems. Secure Content Locker integrates with more than 35 content repositories, which can be configured centrally or across multiple locations. End users, with configurable permissions, are able to set up their own content sharing access to personal drives or content repositories.  Secure Content Locker can be used to secure email attachments, provide user authentication, encrypt files, set effective and expiration dates on content, geofence, share limitations, restrict offline viewing and more.

“We worked closely with ASD to enhance the security features of Secure Content Locker to receive PROTECTED level compliance,” said Rob Roe, managing director, Australia and New Zealand, AirWatch by VMware.  “Throughout several months of conversations with the Australian government and testing, we’re excited to implement the highest security features available. We are currently deploying AirWatch Secure Content Locker into various government departments both at the federal and state levels, and look forward to expanding our product set to other government agencies to provide a PROTECTED content container for these organizations.”
